Your Step by Step Guide to Enrolment

Monday 16 September 2019

You are required to complete two simple steps before you arrive, using Blackboard, the University's student portal (Before 12th September 2019):

  • Check and amend your Personal Details
  • Upload a photo for your ID card.

Step 1 - Getting Started and Your Personal Details

All new students accessing Blackboard for the first time need to change their default password to one of their choice. Information on how to do this can be found by clicking the Getting Started Leaflet link which is found at the end of Step 2.

Updating Your Personal Details

Once you have accessed Blackboard, you need to click on the ‘Personal Details’ section on your Blackboard homepage.

You need to check and amend the details we currently hold on our system for you. You must then read the Privacy Notice, confirm you have done this and submit your details as directed. Once you have done this, you will receive email confirmation.

Step 2 - Photo ID

You are required to upload a photo so that we can produce your ID card in advance, ready for you to collect after your Introduction Talk.

Uploading Your Photo

Please follow the steps in the Getting Started leaflet enclosed in your enrolment pack. Once you have done this, you will receive email confirmation.

Important: Your photograph must be a passport style headshot photo only.

Getting Started Leaflet

After completing Steps One and Two above, you will be able to access the Getting Started generic and programme level resources.

Programme level resources are in a Getting Started School site. Your enrolment letter gives you this information.

Your password is the same one you used to access your Blackboard homepage when you checked your personal details.

Your Enrolment Pack

You will have received the following documentation by post:

  • Getting Started Leaflet
  • Enrolment Ticket
  • NHS Registration Form
  • Students' Union Membership Information

The following checklist will ensure you have completed everything you need to do, to ensure a speedy enrolment.

Prior to arriving:

  • Update your Personal Details on Blackboard
  • Upload a photo for your ID card on Blackboard
  • Complete your NHS registration form.

Important Documents to bring with you to University, to speed up the enrolment process:

  • A form of photo ID, either your passport, provisional or full driving licence or your CitizenCard. EU/EEA students are required to bring their passport.
  • Enrolment Ticket
  • NHS Registration Form

Important: If you are eligible for a maintenance loan and are unable to enrol by 20 September 2019, you will need to enrol in the Student Support Centre in the Minerva Building. Please note that your maintenance loan will be paid by the Student Loans Company five days after we have confirmed that you have enrolled, so delaying enrolment will delay your maintenance loan payment to you.
