Student ID Cards (New Students Only)

Your Student ID card is an important part of your University experience. You should keep it with you whenever you are on campus, as it provides access to a range of services and facilities.

Collecting Your Student ID Cards

Here you can find out more about when and where you can collect your University of Lincoln student ID card. Please note that you can only collect your Student ID card two days after your photo has been approved. Your card will be available for you to collect on campus.

Details about the times and locations for collection are available below:

Home Undergraduate and Postgraduate Taught

Once enrolled, you can collect your Student ID card from the Student Support Centre on the ground floor of the Minerva building, Brayford campus.

Opening times are:

Monday – 08.30 – 17.00 
Tuesday – 08.30 – 17.00 
Wednesday – 09.30-17.00 
Thursday – 08.30 – 17.00 
Friday – 08.30 – 16.30 

Please note that the last entry is 15 minutes before closing time.

International Undergraduate and Postgraduate Taught

You will be able to collect your student ID card in the Enrolment Suite in the Student Support Centre, on the ground floor of the Minerva building, once you have completed Enrolment.

Enrolment is open 9am – 12pm and 1pm – 4pm each day between 23 January and 23 February. 

Please note that the last entry is 15 minutes before closing time.

Postgraduate Research

Please arrange card collection by creating a Service Request on the UniHelp Portal.

National Centre for Food Manufacturing

If you do not receive your card within two weeks of your course start date, please email holbeachadmin@lincoln.ac.uk to arrange card collection.

Short Courses/Online Courses/Work-Based Distance Learning

Our online courses will not be automatically issued a student card.

If you are planning on visiting the library, you do not need a student card. You can scan the barcode on the UniLincoln app to enter the library and borrow books and enter your ID and password to print.

If you do not have the UniLincoln app, you can download it at UniLincoln app.

If you are planning to come onto campus and would like a student card, you can request one by creating a Service Request on the UniHelp Portal.

The Student Support Centre (Minerva Building, Brayford Pool Campus) opening hours can be found on the website.

Activate Your Card

Once you have collected your Student ID card, you will need to activate it before it can be used for building access. To do this, visit one of the University's card update points across campus and hold your card against the reader until it flashes green. Your card will not work for door access until it has been activated.

Building and Room Access

Your Student ID card provides access to University buildings and teaching spaces where you have permission to enter. Access is based on your course and any specialist facilities you require as part of your studies. If you believe you should have access to an area but your card is not working, please contact UniHelp for support.

Library Access

The University's printing system is linked to your Student ID card. Before using a University printer for the first time, make sure you log in with your University account and follow the instructions provided to activate your printing access. Once set up, you can use your card to securely release your printing.

Printing and Photocopying

You will need your Student ID card to enter the University Library and borrow physical resources. Please remember to bring it with you whenever you visit the Library.

Exams

You will need to present your Student ID card at any examinations you may have.

Students' Union Venues

If you would like to attend Students' Union events or accessing SU venues, you may be asked for your Student ID card. It helps confirm your student status and ensures you can make the most of the opportunities available to you.

Lost, Stolen, or Damaged Cards

If your Student ID card is lost, stolen, or damaged, you should arrange for a replacement as soon as possible. Replacement charges may apply. For any questions about your Student ID card, or find out more information contact UniHelp.
