To help you prepare, the following information provides guidance on the entrance requirements you will need to meet, alongside further information in support of your application.

Entry Requirements

Prospective students from Myanmar are required to meet the following University of Lincoln entry requirements:

University Preparation Courses for International Students

International and EU students who do not meet the minimum undergraduate entry requirements have the opportunity to study a preparation course at the University of Lincoln International Study Centre.

Students can apply for the International Foundation Year, a one-year course that aims to prepare you for the first year of your chosen degree. Students can choose from two subject routes:

● International Foundation Year in Business and Media
● International Foundation Year in Engineering and Computing

Students can also apply for the International Year One, an intensive, one-year course that is the equivalent of the first year of an undergraduate degree. Students can choose from four subject routes:

● International Year One in Business and Management
● International Year One in Computer Science
● International Year One in Engineering
● International Year One in Media Studies

Upon successful completion, students are able to progress to an undergraduate degree at the University of Lincoln.

Prospective students require one of the following qualifications for entry into year one of an undergraduate degree:

  • Successful completion of a recognised International Foundation Course (High School Diploma / Matriculation Exam students will require a Foundation).
  • Associate Degree/Diploma with minimum score of 65%
  • Between 27 and 34 International Baccalaureate (IB) points depending on the course you wish to apply for. 
  • A-levels at specific grades depending on the programme of interest.

Advanced Entry (Undergraduate)

Depending on your academic background and intended course of study, it may be possible to apply for advanced entry into year 2 or 3 of a University of Lincoln undergraduate course.

Postgraduate Taught (e.g. MA/MSc)

Entry requirements for our postgraduate (master degree) programmes vary by course. Prospective students from Myanmar require a 5 year Bachelor degree (awarded in a professional subject) with 65% = 2:2 or 75% = 2:1 (grade depending on programme applied for).   

Alternatively, prospective students with a Masters degree: 60% = 2:2 or 70% = 2:1 (grade depending on the programme applied for).

Postgraduate Research (e.g. MPhil/PhD)

Successful completion of a Masters Degree with a full research proposal.

English Language Requirements

Prospective students require IELTS 6.0 (with no less than 5.5 in each band score) or an equivalent qualification. Please note that some courses require a higher score.

Students who do not meet the above English language requirements may be eligible for entry onto a Pre Sessional English and Academic Study Skills (PEASS) course.
