The University holds subject-specific Offer Holder Days which are quite different to Open Days and are an important step in choosing the right university. A visit can help your son and daughter decide if Lincoln is the right choice for their studies.
Offer Holder Days provide your child with the opportunity to ‘test drive’ their chosen course, enabling them to experience what it might be like to study in their chosen field at the University of Lincoln. While the schedule for the day will vary, they typically include course-led activities and a welcome talk from a senior member of academic staff in that area. As your son and daughter will be taking part in these activities alongside other applicants for their chosen course, they are also a great way for them to start making friends before they even arrive for Welcome Week in September.
Each College curates their own programme for the day, providing guests with a bespoke schedule which centres on activities and tasters relevant to the course of interest. These activities take place in the afternoon, giving you the morning to find out more about the Lincoln experience, attend general talks, visit our information zone, tour our campus and accommodation options, or hop on a city bus tour.
We know that a decision to attend university is one that involves the whole family, and an Offer Holder Day is also your chance to learn more about the university, the city, and the subject area that your son or daughter intends to study. That's why we provide parents with their own schedule for the day, allowing you to find out more about the things that matter most to you.
As part of your tailored schedule for the day there will be a dedicated Parents' Guide to University talk which covers a variety of topics. This is followed by a School Welcome talk to introduce you to the School and the subject. While your son or daughter is in their subject taster session, your schedule is free from 2pm and 3.30pm, allowing you time to relax in one of the cafe area, explore the campus further, or enjoy the city. The city's high street is only a short walk away, providing range of shops, restaurants, and cafes, and a walk up Steep Hill is worth the climb to take in the city's historic Cathedral Quarter.
Booking onto an Offer Holder Day is simple. Your son or daughter should have recieved an email from us with all the details, including a link to our booking page which is available on our Applicants Portal. Please note that not all programmes run Offer Holder Days, such as those which invite applicants to interview, deliver portfolio reviews, etc. If you have any questions, please contact our Enquiries team on the details below.
