Medical Societies

Lincoln MedSoc is run by medical students, created primarily to offer a supportive and social community to all Lincoln medical students, and those interested in medicine at the University of Lincoln. From educational resources and wellbeing advice, to a variety of sports and socials, Lincoln MedSoc aims to cater for all. Like any Medical Society, we aim to be a poignant part of your Medical School experience, providing the social, educationa,l and sporting framework to ensure you get the best out of Med School, and help guide your future in medicine. We will also be running a “Medic-parent” scheme to provide support and advice and to help you get the most out of your time at Lincoln Medical School. Surveys will be sent out so we can match you with likeminded second year students that share similar interests. Please look out for further communication about this in due course. More information about Lincoln Medical Society can be found on our website.

Being Nottingham Students means you have dual Student Union citizenship and will have access to the Nottingham Medical Society. You will be contacted separately by the Nottingham MedSoc with information about your membership and resources that may be of interest to you. Find out more about the University of Lincoln MedSoc membership on the SU website.

Whilst studying on the University of Lincoln campus you will be able to access the Students’ Union Advice Centre, who provide professional, independent, and impartial advice on academic issues, housing, finance, and wellbeing. For more information on this, go to It is also important to remember, that the Student Leaders and your Academic Reps at Lincoln SU are here to make sure that your experience as a student on the University of Lincoln campus is the best that it can be. If you have any feedback, issues or questions please do not hesitate one of these elected individuals.

Due to the current COVID-19 situation, we anticipate some change for the next academic term. We are not yet sure how it will affect our sports, events, and socials, but we still endeavour to fully meet the needs of our members. During these uncertain times we believe it to be particularly important that we provide the wellbeing, social, and educational support to each and every member of MedSoc to ensure you still get the most out of medical school.

Lincoln MedSoc aims to establish medic-specific sports teams for the 20/21 academic year. We will be sending out a survey to gauge interest, so we know what trials to run and teams to set up. It is still early days, so we will not be able to create teams for every sport. We need to prioritise those teams with the enough interest, but we are very excited to create and run MedSoc specific sports teams and events. We will look to be running these as any other sports teams with regular training sessions, fixtures, and hopefully, MedSoc Varsity. Please look out for the surveys we will be sending to you in the coming days.

Lincoln MedSoc also aims to meet any additional educational needs you may have. MedSoc offers a range of educational support, through academic sub-societies, workshops, educational resources, and external guest speakers. Here at Lincoln, we have ‘MedSoc Affiliated Societies’, which include GPSoc, Anatomy, and SCRUBS. If during the academic year, you are interested in creating a new ‘Medsoc Affiliated Society’, do approach the Medsoc Education Officer! Please have a look at your Welcome Pack and our website to find out a little more about these societies.
