A student journalist at the University of Lincoln has added another famous name to her list of celebrity interviewees.
Third-year Communications student Clare Howcroft (23) has interviewed flamboyant interior designer Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen for the university’s student magazine Bullet.
Famed for starring in the BBC series ‘Changing Rooms’, Laurence has also teamed up with Diarmuid Gavin on ‘Homefront’ and written four books on designing.
Clare says the interview in Bullet is mainly about the new series of ‘Changing Rooms’.
“He’s taking over from Carol Smillie and he warns we should all brace ourselves for his new style of presenting,” she says.
“He’s a really lovely guy, genuine and witty. In the interview he talked about how he thinks him and Jonathan Ross are morphing into one. Their dress sense is similar, but he still thinks he looks better than him in those suits.”
Laurence is not the first celebrity Clare has interviewed - Paul McGann, Donal MacIntyre and Adam & Joe from Channel 4 have all featured in previous issues of Bullet.
Also in the new edition, Clare interviewed Andy Davies, the straight man from ‘Friday Night with Jonathan Ross’ and ex-producer of ‘The Big Breakfast’ with Chris Evans.
Bailey Pitt (20), a third-year Journalism student and editor of Bullet, says that interviews were the way to go.
“We took over the magazine in September last year and we thought celebrity interviews would increase readership and appeal to the student audience. It would raise the profile of the magazine and be more interesting to read.”
The new issue of Bullet is out this month and also features an interview with Steve-O from the television show ‘Jackass’.
