Open evening to highlight postgraduate options at Lincoln
Students at the University of Lincoln The range of postgraduate study options on offer at the University of Lincoln will be highlighted at an open evening this summer.

The University will be opening up its spectacular Brayford Pool campus in central Lincoln to prospective postgraduate students from 4pm-7pm on Tuesday 1 June.

The event is an opportunity for anyone interested in a return to higher education to discover the array of postgraduate programmes available at Lincoln. The options, which span a range of fascinating subjects, include taught MA and MSc programmes, certificates and diplomas, as well as research-focused PhD and Masters by Research programmes.

Luke Stanbridge, UK Student Recruitment Manager at the University of Lincoln, said: "Postgraduate study can open doors to a huge variety of opportunities. You might be looking to pursue a new career path, or simply to learn more about a subject you love. A new qualification can also help you climb the ladder in your existing job.
"Here at Lincoln, there are many different ways to study, including part-time or distance learning, and a variety of qualifications, from short courses through to PhDs. For anyone thinking about a return to study, our postgraduate open evening will be well worth a visit."

More than £130m has been invested in the University of Lincoln’s campuses over the past decade and the institution has recruited scores of world class academics.

The postgraduate programme has been buoyed by a surge in national research funding following the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise. Lincoln’s share of funding jumped by more than 620 per cent – one of the biggest percentage increases of any English university. It also scored some of the biggest increases in ranking in last year’s national university league tables.

The University has a dedicated Graduate School which works closely with faculties to ensure postgraduate students get optimum supervision, access to facilities, research opportunities and careers advice.

Postgraduate study has proved a life-changing experience for Madelaine Richardson, who graduated from the University of Lincoln with an MA in Fine Art in January this year.

The mature student, from Worksop, Nottinghamshire, balanced her studies with her lecturing job at Boston College and after-work commitments coaching young gymnasts at an evening class.

Madelaine was later appointed course coordinator for the art programme at Boston College – a progression which she firmly attributes to the skills and confidence she developed while studying at Lincoln.

She said: "Coming back to study is the best thing I have done. The younger students keep you young. The tutors and the beautiful surroundings are inspirational – I couldn’t have wished for a better place to have studied."
