Celebrated British fashion designer supports Lincoln show
catwalk Successful British designer Paul Smith will be supporting this year’s University of Lincoln fashion show on Friday 21 May.

The prestigious ‘Coming into fashion’ shows will be held at the Engine Shed and will showcase the culmination of three years’ work by talented students on the BA (Hons) Fashion Studies course. This year, students will also be vying for a coveted work experience placement with Paul Smith.

Inspiration for the collections has come from a wide variety of sources.  A quote by a famous designer inspired Chelsea Debnam. She said: “For my collection I took quotes from Coco Chanel, particularly one about style running through the veins. I expanded on this by using leaves as my inspiration and using wools and silks.”

Other inspirations include sophisticated burlesque, birds of paradise and music festivals.

University of Lincoln fashion students have had great success in a range of design competitions and have gone on to work in a variety of roles in the fashion industry, landing jobs with TV series Gok's Fashion Fix, designer DKNY, fashion retailer New Look, and Closer magazine.

The Paul Smith award will be presented to the winner at the evening’s gala show. As well as a minimum of one week’s work at the London headquarters, the lucky recipient will also receive a suit or bag of their choice from the Paul Smith range.

International fashion designer Antonio Berardi launched the first fashion show to be held at the Engine Shed in 2008 and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Arts by the University.

The 2010 University of Lincoln fashion shows will take place on Friday 21 May at the Engine Shed. Prizes will be awarded at the gala show taking place from 8.30pm.
