Professor David Chiddick An Early Day Motion in the House of Commons congratulated Professor David Chiddick on his superb achievements as Vice Chancellor of The University of Lincoln.

Professor Chiddick retired as VC at the end of October after 30 years in higher education.

The EDM was proposed by the Labour MP for North West Leicestershire David Taylor and also signed by Conservative MP for Worthing West Peter Bottomley and the Leader of the SDLP in Northern Ireland Mark Durkan.

All three noted the achievements of the University of Lincoln under his leadership with the University now recognised as one of the fastest improving universities in Britain, despite only being established in 2001.

A mention was also made of the key role played by the Lincolnshire Co-operative Society in the development of the university.

David Taylor also congratulated Professor Chiddick on the part he played in the regeneration of the Bede Island area of Leicester during his time as a Pro Vice Chancellor at De Montfort University.

SDLP Leader and MP for Foyle Mark Durkan wished Professor Chiddick well in seeking university-led regeneration of the Northern Ireland city of Derry through the University of Derry group.
