Carducci Quartet offers another string to LPAC’s bow
Carducci String Quartet One of the world’s leading string quartets will play at the Lincoln Performing Arts Centre (LPAC) as a new series of concerts by international classical music stars goes from strength to strength.

The Carducci String Quartet will perform at the LPAC, based on the University of Lincoln’s Brayford Pool campus, on Sunday 27 September in the second major date in the venue’s International Concert Series 2009/10.

The UK-based quartet has established an enthusiastic international following and has won major accolades including the Concert Artists Guild Competition in New York, the Kuhmo International Chamber Music Competition and prizes at competitions in Bordeaux, London and Osaka.

The group holds residencies at Trinity College of Music in London, Cardiff University and at the Cork School of Music in Ireland. This season they will perform over 90 concerts worldwide, including performances at London’s Wigmore Hall and Washington’s Library of Congress. European tours include multiple stops in Spain, Portugal, Denmark, France and the UK.

Their date at the LPAC will see them perform Haydn Quartet Op 33 No 2 'Joke', Ravel String Quartet and Schubert Quartet in D minor D 810 'Death and the Maiden'.

Graham Oppenheimer, Artistic Director for the LPAC’s International Concert Series, said: “The Carducci String Quartet features some of the most talented young British musicians of this generation. They are much in-demand at concert halls across the world so this is a wonderful chance to see them perform in an intimate setting which will really do justice to their music.”

The International Concert Series 2009/10 will bring a wealth of eminent musicians to Lincoln, including Matthew Barley, Dame Felicity Lott and the Northern Sinfonia.

Tickets for the Carducci String Quartet’s performance at the LPAC on Sunday 27 September cost £12 (£10 Concessions) and are available from the Engine Shed and LPAC Box Office, open Monday to Friday from 10am - 4pm, Brayford Wharf East, Lincoln.
