Bloc Party announce Engine Shed date
Bloc Party Top indie rock outfit Bloc Party will perform at the University of Lincoln’s Engine Shed later this year during their biggest ever UK tour.

The London-based four-piece will play at the venue on Brayford Wharf East, Lincoln, on Monday 12 October.

Tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday 6 February.

The gig is one of 23 dates at venues around the UK scheduled for October – leading to the tour being dubbed BLOCTOBER.

Bloc Party, fronted by lead vocalist Kele Okereke, achieved critical and commercial success with debut album Silent Alarm. That was followed by A Weekend in the City in 2007 and Intimacy in 2008.

Victoria Simpson, Events and Marketing Manager at the Engine Shed, said: “Bloc Party are one of the real heavyweights of the British indie scene. This will be the band’s biggest UK tour and we’re extremely pleased that the Engine Shed is one of the venues they’ll be visiting. We know there’s definitely the fan base here with the success of gigs by the likes of Kings of Leon, Babyshambles and Dirty Pretty Things in the past. Tickets are going to be in high demand.”

Bloc Party will perform at the Engine Shed on Monday 12 October 2009. The event is for people aged 16 and over with doors at 7pm.

Tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday 6 February, priced £22.50. They are available from www.engineshed.co.uk, 0844 888 8766, HMV Lincoln and the Engine Shed Box Office, which is open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm.
