NME Shockwaves Tour hits the Engine Shed

The NME Shockwaves Tour will be returning to the University of Lincoln’s Engine Shed with a bill packed with some of the UK’s most exciting up-and-coming talent.

Scottish alt-rock outfit Glasvegas will headline the concert, which will take place at the Brayford Wharf East venue on Tuesday 10 February 2009.

The band will be supported by The Friendly Fires, White Lies and Florence and the Machine.

The NME Shockwaves Tour has been the springboard for some of Britain’s most successful artists of recent years. The Arctic Monkeys, Muse and The Killers have all performed on previous line-ups.

Glasvegas, a four-piece band from Glasgow, reached number two in the UK album charts earlier this year with their eponymous debut album. The singles Geraldine and Daddy’s Gone both hit the Top 20.

Victoria Simpson, Events and Marketing Manager at the Engine Shed, said: “It’s great news that the NME Shockwaves Tour will be returning to the Engine Shed. Last year’s event was a big success. Being able to attract high-profile events such as this just shows how highly music promoters and artists rate the venue and the city.”

Tickets for the NME Shockwaves Tour 2009 concert at the Engine Shed cost £15.59, which includes a 59 pence donation to the charity Shelter. The event is for people aged 16 and over.
