A taste of Latin America in Lincoln

Cine Latino has returned to the University of Lincoln for a brand new season of Latin American films based around the theme ‘For the Love of Children’.

On Monday 8 October the film Innocent Voices will be screened. The film is based on the childhood experiences of its screenwriter Oscar Torres. It’s a story about a boy whose life is dominated by guns and crime, often hiding under his bed watching bullets shoot through his home and avoiding machine gun barrels on his way to school.

The film goes on to show what the boy’s life is like once he has escaped his home village to join his uncle, bringing his childhood to a premature end.

Films coming soon include Valentin (15 October), La Vendedora de Rosas (22 October) and Central Station (29 October).

The films are in Spanish or Portuguese with English subtitles. All films start at 7pm in the Jackson Lecture Theatre, Brayford Pool campus, Lincoln.

Everyone is welcome to come along and all films are free of charge.

The films are organised by the Lincoln Languages Centre, part of the University of Lincoln’s Faculty of Business and Law. For more information contact Andy Daglish on 01522 886344 or email adaglish@lincoln.ac.uk
