The University of Lincoln is holding a topping out ceremony to celebrate the finish of the external building work of the new Performing Arts Centre.

The event is a traditional way of celebrating the fact that a building is weather tight and internal works can progress. The ceremony will take place at the Performing Arts Centre on Tuesday 5th June at 5pm.

The new centre which is due to open later this year will provide a public venue for theatre, music, dance, film, public talks and conferences. The university’s Performing Arts students will benefit from the state-of-the-art facilities provided by the two floor centre which will include a 450 seat theatre.

The purpose built £6 million facility will attract professional touring theatre productions as well as being home to drama and dance students.

The centre will also engage in educational and outreach activities linked to arts and culture so that the whole community can benefit from the centre.

Journalists and photographers are welcome to attend the topping out ceremony. The Performing Arts Centre is located next to the university’s Engine Shed.
