JOHN INVERDALE OPENS HUMAN PERFORMANCE CENTRE
The BBC’s very own leading sports presenter John Inverdale opened the University of Lincoln’s Human Performance Centre on Wednesday 29th November.
John Inverdale started his career with the Lincolnshire Echo as a reporter. In 1982 he moved to BBC Radio Lincolnshire, and then in 1985 he went to the sports department of BBC Radio 2.
Since then John has worked as a presenter for BBC Radio Five Live, presenting coverage of many major sporting events, including Wimbledon, the Olympic Games, the Ryder Cup and the football and rugby World Cups.
The Human Performance Centre will provide a regional facility for excellence in sport, coaching and exercise science. Its state of the art facilities provide laboratory and field testing, an analysis suite and a consultation room.
A spokesperson for the university said: “John’s visit to the Human Performance Centre was great; he was very enthusiastic about our new facility. The state of the art facilities at the centre will provide first class teaching with a difference.”
Students demonstrated how the facilities worked, such as the treadmill and the virtual golf range which measures the accuracy of your shot.
