The new Professor of Direction and Leadership at the University of Lincoln, Colin Coulson-Thomas, will be speaking about bidding for business at a prestigious annual conference tomorrow (Friday).

Professor Coulson-Thomas, who is also the Chairman of the Judges for the

e-Business Innovations awards and a member of the European Commission’s Team Europe, has been invited to give the opening address at the Institute of Management Consultant’s annual conference.

He started his career in higher education at the Management Development Institute in Delhi in 1997 working as a visiting professor and has since lectured at universities around the world including the University of Canada and the East China University of Science & Technology in Shanghai.

Articles he has written in the last couple of months have appeared in European Business, Strategic Direction, Management Services and the International Journal of Productivity and Performance Management.

Professor Coulson-Thomas is also the lead on a business research programme which has been trying to establish why some companies win business and others fail. At the annual conference in London on Friday 8th July, he will be summarising some of their key findings.

Most businesses would like to secure a higher proportion of the contracts they bid for but a wide gulf exists between winners and losers,” said Professor Coulson-Thomas.

“Understanding the critical success factors for winning competitive bids and how high performers operate, can help companies to become more successful in the competitive process.”

Over 100 delegates are expected to attend the Institute of Management Consultant’s annual conference at Hamilton Place in London, which is the home of the Royal Aeronautical Society.
