Pupils from Lincoln Christ’s Hospital School will get a university perspective on politics this week as part of their Czech, English and Danish conference (CED) on democracy.

Ian Barnes, Professor of European Economic Integration at the University of Lincoln, will deliver a lecture on asylum and immigration issues and the European Union to the sixth-form students at 1pm on Wednesday 17th March.

Politics students from the school’s exchange partners - Haslev Gymnasium in Denmark and Gymnazium Kutna Hora in the Czech Republic - will also attend the lecture which will be held at the university.

The three schools have worked together on the annual sixth-form conference based on the theme of the enlargement of the European Union. The first conference took place in Haslev, Denmark in 1999.

“We are very pleased that we are involved in this project,” said Professor Barnes.  “It is a great opportunity to be able to speak to an international audience about these issues, especially at a time of great change in the European Union.”

The CED conference runs from Monday 15th March to Friday 19th March.
