An internationally acclaimed campaigner on women’s imprisonment is to visit Lincoln today to give a lecture to Criminology students at the university.


Professor Pat Carlen, Visiting Professor of Criminology at Keele University, will give a guest lecture to third-year penology students at the University of Lincoln’s Brayford Pool campus.


The lecture, entitled ‘Sentencing Women: Explaining the Growth in the Women’s Prison Industry’, will be given in lecture theatre AR 0107 in the Lincoln School of Architecture building at 1pm today (Monday).


Pat Carlen is widely regarded as one of the world’s leading experts on crime, gender, and punishment.


She has published extensively, was the founder of Women in Prison and has been awarded the Sellin-Glueck Prize by the American Society of Criminology for international contributions to criminology.
