Budding feature film writers are invited to join a new programme being launched in the east midlands.

The UK Film Council and East Midlands Media Investment (EMMI), the production fund of EM Media, have teamed up to provide advice and financial support for new feature film writers.

Successful applicants will be able to attend a writers’ workshop and two writers will eventually be given £5,000 to help them to develop a full script.

The programme is designed to encourage and identify new writers for feature film and all entrants must not have been commissioned by a UK company for feature work previously.

Full publicity material and application forms are now available and a series of events and roadshows are being held throughout July.

The deadline for submissions will be the end of August, at which time 15 people will be chosen to attend a writers’ workshop at the end of September.

Five people will then be given £1,500 to produce a treatment and two writers will eventually be selected to write a full script.

Anyone interested in finding out more about the programme should contact Hana Prowse at: The Pool, The Marina, 3 Campus Way, Lincoln LN6 7GA or on 01522 532959.
