HULL ANIMATORS IN LINE FOR PRESTIGIOUS AWARD

Two animators who graduated last year from the Hull School of Art & Design will be in Birmingham next week to hear if they’ve won a prestigious award.

Alexandra Turner (22) and Adam Farish (32) have both been nominated for a regional Royal Television Society student award in the Best Animation category.

They’ve been invited to the Royal Television Society student awards dinner (central region) in Birmingham on Saturday 2nd November, where they will find out if they will be going forward to the national awards ceremony in London.

“Alex and Adam are following in some illustrious footsteps because graduates from the Hull School of Art & Design have been nominated in this category every year since 1998, and we’ve won the national award twice,” said Andy Sugden, senior lecturer in Animation at the University of Lincoln.

Alexandra, who comes from Leighton Buzzard in Bedfordshire, is nominated for her animation ‘City Spirit’, while Adam Farish from Hull is nominated for ‘Door to the Law’.

The pair will join Philip Arkinstall, David Smith, Matthew Taylor and Andrew Ellis - Media Production graduates from the university’s Lincoln campus – whose film ‘The Montpellier Exchange’ has been nominated in the non-factual undergraduate category.

This year is the first time Hull students have qualified for the Royal Television Society’s midland region. Previously Hull students were nominated in the northern section.
