Managers in Hull and the East Riding who want to upgrade their professional qualifications could have their postgraduate course fees paid for them.
Students taking the Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma in Management Studies (part-time) at the University of Lincoln are to be sponsored by Humberside Business Link.
Business Link will pay half the student’s course fees while the student’s employer will normally pay the other half.
The offer is open to managers working for small or medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with fewer than 250 employees in the Humberside region.
“Business Link will fund the student by paying half the course fees, which amounts to about £900 per student,” said Dr Don White, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Management at the University of Lincoln.
“This is a tremendous offer and it will be a great boost to people seeking management development in the SME sector.”
Dr White said the agreement between the university and Business Link provides flexibility for students.
“It doesn’t matter where they live or whether they want to study at our Hull campus or our Lincoln campus,” he said. “To qualify for funding the students have to work for an SME based in the Humber region, but uniquely we can offer them a choice of where to study.
“This is the first time we have put such an arrangement in place and we will certainly be repeating the scheme next year.”
