YOUNG MUSICIANS TO STAGE CHARITY CONCERT

 

Classical music and jazz will combine in a major concert to be performed at the University of Lincoln tomorrow evening (Wednesday).

 

The 75-strong Lincolnshire Youth Symphonic Wind Band andthe Boston Youth Jazz Orchestra will perform a concert supported by the Rotary Club of Lincoln in the university sports hall.

 

The wind bandís programme will include themes from Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings as well as classical pieces such as March to the Scaffold by Berlioz.

 

The 29-strong jazz orchestra will provide a contrasting musical style with numbers from their new CD including Booker Tís Green Onions, Elvis Presleyís I Just Canít Help Believiní and Dusty Springfieldís Son of a Preacher Man.

 

The concert starts at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £6 (£5 concessions) and will be available on the door.

 

Access to the university sports centre is via entrance on Ropewalk opposite Toys R Us.

 

Proceeds will be shared between the musicians and Rotary Club charities.
