Staff from a Hull company will be the first cohort to graduate from a tailor-made course designed by the University of Lincoln in Hull.

Senior management from Rockware Glass encouraged eight members of staff from their sales, marketing, production and information technology departments to enrol on the new in-company Masters in Business Administration.

“We have been running the MBA for a number of years,” said David Currie, programme leader, “but the company asked if we could provide a flexible and accessible MBA course especially for their staff.

“As well as working full-time, the staff have hectic social lives so we adjusted the programme to suit their requirements and taught the sessions at a hotel which was a central location.”

Rockware Glass is the UK’s market leader in glass container design and manufacture.  The company produces glassware for leading brands including Budweiser, Nescafé and Smirnoff.

“The students are one of the most motivated groups we have worked with,” said David.

“The support by the company, both financially and time-wise, represents a significant investment in management development.

“The company recognise that if they are to survive in the highly competitive markets, developing their key employees is critical.”

The students will graduate at Hull City Hall next Wednesday morning (31st July) at 11.30am.
