The pair, who are studying for a National Diploma in Photography at the Lincoln School of Art and Design, have been named on a shortlist of 30 students who are in with a chance of a prize.
Over 300 photography students from all over the UK entered the competition and the winners will be announced at a party in London this evening (Wednesday) where the 30 finalists will have their work exhibited.
Emma (17) of Holdingham, near Sleaford, and Micky (17) of Goltho, near Market Rasen, were asked to create a visually compelling photographic image to reflect Virgin Megastores’ advertising strapline ‘Whatever Turns You On’.
Judging the entries were Sally Chatterton, picture editor of The Independent, Andreas Laeufer, art director of Tank magazine, and Emily Newton-Dunn, freelance journalist for Sleazenation.
“We are extremely excited about our first ever photographic awards which demonstrateVirgin Megastores’ commitment to innovation and creativity,” said Simon Dornan, head of PR for Virgin Megastores.
The competition’s first prize is £2,500, with further prizes of £2,000 and £1,500.
The three finalists’ work will be developed into style ads as well as being displayed in the Oxford Street Megastore. Visitors to the website virgin.com/megastores/uk will also find an online gallery showcasing the work of the 30 finalists.
