STUDENTS WILL BE MISSED BY RETIRING CLEANER

Finding a student’s boyfriend hiding in a wardrobe was one of many hilarious incidents that happened during Cath Redmore’s 30 years as a cleaner at the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside.

Cath retires at the end of June, but her manager at the Cottingham Road campus organised a special sending-off party today (31st May) so all her colleagues could attend.

“I’ll really miss the students because they’ve given me so many laughs over the years,” said Cath, 64, of Hazelbarrow Drive, Willerby. “I’ve really enjoyed my time here, although its changed a lot since I first came of course.”

The campus has seen many changes over the years, and during Cath’s time in the halls of residence it’s gone from a teacher training college to its current status as part of the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside.

Now she’s retiring Cath is planning some fun and relaxation, but she won’t be putting her feet up - her five grandchildren will keep her busy and she and husband Trevor are planning a Christmas cruise to Australia and New Zealand.

“The cruise is my husband’s treat for my retirement, but apart from that we’re off to Ibiza with the family in July,” added Cath, who is a senior supervisor in the halls.

Cath’s four grand-daughters Rachel, Nicola, Laura and Katie, whose ages range from two to eight, are all keen ballroom dancers and Cath is looking forward to getting even more involved in their busy schedules.

Together with grandson Daniel, 11, her family all live in Cottingham and Cath enjoys having them close by.
