ARCHITECTS ABROAD TO HIGHLIGHT BRANSHOLME PROJECT
Two Hull lecturers who are helping local children re-design their school playgrounds have returned from an event at Koblenz University in Germany as part of European Architecture Week.
Bridget Hansford and Gary Hornsby are taking part in a Children’s University project at Highlands Primary and Biggin Hill Primary Schools on Bransholme.
The children developed ideas from sketches as part of a scheme to look at improving the environment at both schools which suffer from some vandalism and dilapidation.
At the Koblenz conference Bridget and Gary joined representatives from Germany, Italy and Great Britain to discuss the link between education and architecture. They also gave a presentation focusing on their community work with the Bransholme schools.
“The project is on-going and we expect to return to the schools soon,” said Mr Hornsby.
The lecturers were asked to advise the Year Five pupils on their designs in sessions organised by Kingston-Upon-Hull City Council.
