Over 1,000 new first-years will be arriving in Lincoln from this weekend in time to enrol at the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside next Wednesday (15/9/99).

And freshers enrolling at university and college elsewhere in the city will take the total number of first years arriving in Lincoln this month to around 1,750.

The Students’ Union at the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside has been particularly busy over the summer - a two-week long Freshers’ Fortnight is in store for the lucky first-years who will be arriving at the university over the next few days.

Events scheduled include:

·     a barbecue at the Hogshead pub

·     a pyjama pub crawl

·     a freshers’ fair in the main university building

·     a beachwear pub crawl

·     a freshers’ ball at the Boat Club

·     80s night at The Avenue nightclub

(Please find enclosed an official ULH Freshers’ Guide.)

“Things have been quiet at the university for the past few months, but everyone is looking forward to the new intake of students,” said university spokesman Jez Ashberry.

“The 1,000 new first-years will take our student population in Lincoln to over 3,000 full-time undergraduates. The place is really starting to buzz now, and things will be even more exciting this time next year when we start taking students on our new science programmes.”

Please note two changes to the Freshers’ Guide enclosed:

Monday 13th September PM, replace ‘Laser Quest’ with ‘Quiz at Hogshead’

Tuesday 14th September PM, replace ‘Go-karting’ with ‘Booze Cruise on Brayford’.
