The production company shooting a new movie in Lincoln next week have announced the name of the actor who will be starring opposite Gwyneth Paltrow in the film.

Aaron Eckhart, who starred opposite Julia Roberts in the recent hit Erin Brockovich, will be the other star name to shoot scenes at the Lincoln campus of the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside.

A 140-strong film crew will be in Lincoln for five days to shoot scenes for a film version of A S Byatt’s 1990 Booker Prize-winning novel Possession.

Most of the crew and equipment will arrive on campus on the morning of Tuesday 29th August and all the Lincoln scenes should be in the can by the following Tuesday (4th September).

Eckhart will play Roland Michell, an academic who is researching the life and work of the Victorian  poet Randolph Henry Ash. Paltrow plays Maud Bailey, a Lincoln-based expert on another Victorian poet - Christabel LaMotte.

In Possession Roland and Maud discover a hitherto unknown affair between the two Victorians - a relationship which is mirrored in the modern-day academics themselves.

Possession will be the fourth film Aaron Eckhart has made with director Neil LaBute. He first made his mark as a white-collar executive who plots with a fellow employee to emotionally destroy a female co-worker in In the Company of Men.

He was recently seen in LaBute’s second feature film, Your Friends & Neighbors, and

in his third, Nurse Betty. Originally from northern California, Eckhart studied theatre and film at Brigham Young University, where he met Neil LaBute and subsequently appeared in several of his plays.

Possession Films Limited, who are to produce the film for Warner Brothers, expect to make announcements on the casting of the Victorian characters within the next few days.
