CULTURE SECRETARY TO TOUR LINCOLN’S UNIVERSITY
Culture secretary Chris Smith MP will take a tour of the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside next week.
The Rt Hon Chris Smith MP, Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, will be at the Brayford campus of the university at 11am on Tuesday 13th June 2000 to view the extensive media and IT suites and to hear about plans for future developments on the site.
His visit to Lincoln comes three months after his proposed appearance in March had to be postponed.
After on-campus meetings with Prof Roger King, Vice Chancellor of the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside, and Coun Ric Metcalfe, leader of Lincoln City Council, Mr Smith will tour the redevelopment area south of the Marina and pay a visit to North Lincolnshire College’s Sessions House development.
“We are looking forward to welcoming Mr Smith to Lincoln and briefing him on the exciting development plans that are in the pipeline for the Lincoln campus,” commented university spokesman Jez Ashberry.
Work totalling £11 million on the university’s science facility and sports centre continues apace, with completion of the new buildings expected within months.
The next phase of development on-campus will see the provision of further academic and teaching space and more students’ union facilities.
