15th June 2000

Now the hard work’s over, final-year students in Hull can look forward to the highlight of the student year at the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside - the graduation ball.

The Jarvis International Hotel at Willerby will host the annual black tie dinner and party on Wednesday 19th July when almost 500 students will celebrate their graduation successes.

This year students have an alternative to the traditional black tie event with a big party at LA’s nightclub in Hull on 20th July, and many will take the opportunity to celebrate twice - hangovers permitting!

“The graduation ball is always a really great night as it’s a chance for everyone to party before the serious business of finding a job begins,” said Rob Fry, Vice President (Sports and Recreation) at the university’s Students’ Union.

At the Jarvis International Hotel the new graduates will be served a three-course meal with the chance to party into the night with a DJ specially laid on.

In the more casual atmosphere of LA’s nightclub, the Students’ Union have planned some special treats for the partygoers, including a bucking bronco and an Ali G impersonator.

ULH students are just beginning to receive their degree results and they will all have the good - or not so good - news by the end of June.

Almost 2,000 students will graduate at Hull City Hall between the 19th and 21st July.
