The Chief Executive of the Higher Education Funding Council for England visited the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside last week to learn more of its plans for future development in Hull and Lincoln.

Prof Sir Brian Fender and regional HEFCE consultant Dr John Selby met with the Vice Chancellor Roger King and other senior university officials. The visit has led to an invitation to discuss the plans in more detail at a meeting in London.

During the day-long visit, the guests and were given a tour of both the Lincoln campus and the site of the proposed Island Wharf development in Hull.

“They were impressed by the plans and saw that the university has made significant progress,” said Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof Keith Bardon. “They were also interested to learn of the developments as indicated in the corporate plan and we discussed to what extent the funding council might be able to help the university in the future.”

Prof Bardon, Pro-Vice Chancellor Derek Crothall and the Dean of Social & Life Sciences John Lockwood will travel down to HEFCE headquarters for further talks on Thursday.
