STAR-STRUCK STUDENT CUTS TEETH AT THE BEEB

Lincoln media student Anna Bolton is laying the foundations of a successful career in television by working regularly on the BBC flagship ‘Top of the Pops’.

Anna (20), a second-year Media Production student at the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside, spent a week working on the programme last year and is due to return to the Corporation’s Elstree Centre in London in May.

“It was great fun last year, but very tiring!” said Anna, who came to study in Lincoln from Sunderland. “It wears you out - you’ve got to be happy and chirpy all the time - but it’s very good experience.”

With jobs for Media Production graduates at a premium, Anna has been working hard at making contacts in the industry.

This year she has also secured work experience placements on ‘Blue Peter’ and the ITV children’s programme ‘SMTV’.

“I wrote off to lots of places, and I suppose it’s a stroke of luck that I’ve managed to get so much experience,” she said.
