Community workers from the Hull area will be given an insight into life at the city’s universities at a special open day next Tuesday (30th November).

The University of Lincolnshire & Humberside and the University of Hull hope to use the event to raise their profile among community workers and to spread the word about what’s on offer to local students.

“The open day is all about bringing people onto the campuses to show them that university is for everyone, not just for a select few,” explained Ann Spencer, a marketing manager at the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside.

“We hope that after their visit our guests will go back into their communities with positive comments to pass on about life at university.”

The open day begins at the University of Hull at 9.30am a features a workshop on university publicity material, a tour of both the Cottingham Road campuses and an information session on various issues relating to higher education, including finance, careers advice and the role of the Students’ Union.

The two universities aim to follow up the event in four months’ time to assess how the information has been disseminated and what positive outcomes have been achieved.

If you would like to attend the open day please contact Ann Spencer or Amanda Smethurst on 01482 440550.
