Two top students from Hull are looking forward to a career in graphic design after a phenomenally successful final year at university.

Katy Harman and Philip Martin will graduate next week with first-class honours degrees in Graphic Design from the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside.

Katy (25), who lives in Westbourne Avenue, Hull, achieved such an impressive result on her course that she has been offered a one-month work placement at top London design agency Fitch.

She has also joined the Hull-based web design collective Cafe Society which is developing educational programmes for East Riding Council.

Meanwhile 22-year-old Philip Martin, who lives in Harrogate, scooped two prizes during his final year on top of his first-class honours.

He won a digital camera for work which was used at an ‘Imaging in Business’ seminar at the university’s Lincoln campus, and he also won £100 for a logo which he designed for the new Tickety Boo cafe bar in Hull.

“I was over the moon when I saw my result,” said Philip. “It was a complete surprise - we were all very excited when we opened our envelopes, and when I opened mine I thought - oh blimey! I’ve got a first!

“I’ve had a brilliant time at ULH - the course is really good and it seems to be going from strength to strength.”

Katy and Philip will collect their degrees at Hull City Hall at 2.15pm on Wednesday 21st July.
