Student actors and musicians are putting out a plea to the people of Lincoln in a bid to find somewhere to rehearse and perform.

Representatives of the Lincoln University Music and Drama Society are to meet representatives of the city and county councils today (Wednesday 12th May) to try to find a home for their 250-strong membership.

“The society has been running for a couple of years now but we’ve never had a permanent venue for rehearsals or performances,” said committee member Gemma Daly. “We want to talk to the city council and the county council to see if they can offer us a venue, but we want to appeal to the people of Lincoln too.”

Gemma is also keen to attract members of the public to the society, which aims to stage musical and dramatic events in Lincoln on a  regular basis. “We’re a university society but members of the public are quite welcome to join,” she said.

The society’s committee members will meet David Lambert  and Liz Wilson, arts officers for the city and the county, at County Hall this afternoon.
