More than 400 students will descend on Kelham Hall near Newark on Friday (23rd April) for their Rag Week Ball.

Two charities helping young people will benefit from the proceeds of the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside charity ball which sold out within weeks of tickets going on sale.

A soul band will entertain the 420 students as they enjoy a formal three-course meal, bouncy castle and free drinks. The event is the first of its kind to be staged by students at the Lincoln campus.

All profits from the Midland and Barclays Bank-sponsored event will go to the AIDS awareness charity Lighthouse and the Shaftsbury Society which supports 18-25 year-olds with mental health problems.

“Everyone is excited at having a really good time and getting dressed up for the night,” said student Charlotte Templeman.

Charity sports matches and other events are currently being planned as part of the Rag Week programme.
