Microcredentials

Building Expertise

Whether you are looking to upskill a team in your business, or you are an individual wanting to develop new skills and knowledge in a specialist area, a microcredential can be a great choice. These certification-style courses are short-term, flexible, and accessible, and are designed to meet the needs of the modern workplace.

Each course focuses on a specific topic or skill, providing the opportunity to stay ahead of changing industry demands, develop expertise in a niche area, or explore new topics and fields of interest. Students who successfully complete three microcredential programmes from the same subject category - strategy, marketing, leadership and management, or accounting and finance - may use this as Accreditation of Prior Learning against a module on our MBA Leadership programme. A Flexible Way to Learn

Our programmes are delivered online, giving you the flexibility to study around other demands. Microcredentials usually last 10-12 weeks for a 10-credit course, or 5-7 weeks for a 5-credit course. During each programme, you should expect to undertake 7-10 hours of self-directed study, which could include independent research and working on assignments.

There are regular opportunities to join live webinars, which are a great chance for you to exchange thoughts and ideas with other learners, as well as receive guidance and feedback from subject tutors.

To help you get the most from your studies, our microcredentials are designed to work around your needs and schedules. Where live webinars are used, they are recorded  for future reference. You are also able to apply for extensions, management of assessment, mitigating circumstances, and resits.

Once you enrol, you will also have access to our full range of learning platforms, including our online library and Office 365.

Microcredentials FAQs

How are microcredentials different to degrees?

Microcredentials are a short-term, flexible, and more accessible way to develop new skills or even gain experience of a degree programme before committing to a full programme. They are focused and specialised, allowing learners to target the exact skills they need for their career goals, future plans, or personal interests. Microcredentials can be beneficial for anyone who wants to improve their professional development, change their career path, or pursue lifelong learning. They can help learners stay ahead of the changing demands of the workplace, showcase their expertise in a niche area, or explore new topics and fields of interest. Some microcredentials may be used as prior learning onto one of our degree programmes, get in touch to find out more.

Can I study more than one microcredential at a time?

Yes, you can study more than one at a time, but you need to ensure you can study for 7-10 hours per week per microcredential. Please be mindful of the study commitment and be sure you can accommodate this around other commitments.
