Course Overview

This online short course will explore culture and its effect on individuals, groups, and organisations. The 6-week programme gives learners the opportunity to develop leadership skills and behaviours that support the design, development, and maintenance of high-performance teams.

Participants can learn more about organisational culture frameworks and theoretical approaches to defining and developing effective teams. They can practise self-reflection to increase their awareness about the relationship between culture and leadership, brainstorm learning opportunities in developing effective teams, and reflect on how the knowledge gained can be applied to their professional context and organisational settings.

The course is designed for supervisors, managers and team leaders who are looking to understand the relationship between culture, leadership, and team performance, and how to use culture to support the development of effective teams.

After successfully completing the course, participants will receive five Master's-level credits.

How You Study

Participants will work in a virtual learning environment, engaging with independent study materials, such as videos and readings and will have opportunities to test their understanding through quizzes. A discussion board will be available throughout the programme and is related to the final assessment. The discussion board will be used to encourage debate, critical-thinking, knowledge transfer, and the use and development of academic skills. There will also be three live events to support learning.

Content for the programme includes:

- Critical action learning
- National and organisational culture
- Team and group dynamics
- Culture, teams, and leadership
- Developing high-performing teams
