New Undergraduates

A Student at the University of Lincoln

Getting Started and Enrolment

Congratulations on securing your place to study with us at the University of Lincoln. This page aims to provide all of the key information that you will need to formally enrol.

Your Enrolment Date: Monday 16 September 2019

Before You Arrive

Before you arrive, there are a few important tasks for you to complete to help ensure your first week goes as smoothly as possible, leaving you more time to concentrate on settling in, making new friends, and getting to know your course.

Step 1

First of all, you will need to log on to ‘Blackboard’. Blackboard is our Virtual Learning Environment and you will use this throughout your time as a student at the University of Lincoln. You will find a Getting Started Guide enclosed in your Welcome Pack, which will be posted out to you on A Level results day. Follow the instructions in this leaflet to check and update your personal details.

Step 2

You are also required to upload a photo to the Getting Started section of Blackboard so that we can produce your ID card in advance, ready for you to collect after your Introduction Talk. The deadline for uploading your photograph is before Thursday 12 September 2019. This means that we can make sure that your Student ID card is ready for collection when you formally complete your enrolment when you arrive on campus.

After completing these steps you will be able to access the Getting Started generic and programme level resources. Programme level resources are in a Getting Started School site. Your password will be the same one you have used to access your Blackboard homepage when you checked your personal details.

What to Bring with You to Enrolment

You will have received the following documentation by post:

  • Getting Started Leaflet
  • Enrolment Ticket
  • NHS Registration Form
  • Students' Union Membership Information

You will need to bring the following items with you to ensure a speedy enrolment:

• Enrolment ticket (this will be included in your Welcome Pack)
• Photo ID (passport, full or provisional driving licence. EU/EEA students are required to bring their passport.)
• Completed NHS registration form (this will be included in your Welcome Pack).

Completing Enrolment

Enrolment is the formal process through which you officially join the University. When you enrol, you confirm your agreement to become a student at Lincoln, to abide by University regulations and to become liable for fee payments, as well as agree to having your personal details checked. All students must enrol at the beginning of each year of study.

After you enrol, you will be given your student ID card, which grants you access to University facilities, such as the Library. We will confirm your attendance with the Student Loans Company so that any loans or grants you are eligible for can be processed. Completing your enrolment is really easy and will take place on your first day at University.

Important: If you are eligible for a maintenance loan and are unable to enrol by 20 September 2019, you will need to enrol in the Student Support Centre in the Minerva Building. Please note that your maintenance loan will be paid by the Student Loans Company five days after we have confirmed that you have enrolled, so delaying enrolment will delay your maintenance loan payment.
