As one of the UK’s leading modern universities, students from more than 100 countries apply to the University of Lincoln each year for degree level studies.

To help you prepare, the following information provides guidance on the entrance requirements you will need to meet, alongside further information in support of your application.

All students in Thailand are eligible to apply for the Lincoln 50% Global Scholarship, while postgraduate students can apply for the Thai Scholarship worth £5,000.

Entry Requirements

Prospective students from Thailand are required to meet the following University of Lincoln entry requirements:

University Preparation Courses for International Students

International and EU students who do not meet the minimum undergraduate entry requirements have the opportunity to study a preparation course at the University of Lincoln International Study Centre.

Students can apply for the International Foundation Year, a one-year course that aims to prepare you for the first year of your chosen degree. Students can choose from two subject routes:

● International Foundation Year in Business and Media
● International Foundation Year in Engineering and Computing

Students can also apply for the International Year One, an intensive, one-year course that is the equivalent of the first year of an undergraduate degree. Students can choose from four subject routes:

● International Year One in Business and Management
● International Year One in Computer Science
● International Year One in Engineering
● International Year One in Media Studies

Upon successful completion, students are able to progress to an undergraduate degree at the University of Lincoln.

Prospective students require one of the following qualifications for entry into year one of an undergraduate degree: 

  • Successful completion of a recognised International Foundation Course
  • Students who have completed the Thai Leaving School Certificate (MAW 6) will need to complete a Foundation programme before applying for a Bachelor degree.
  • A-levels (vary depending on programme of choice)
  • Between 27 and 34 International Baccalaureate (IB) points depending on the course you wish to apply for.

Advanced Entry (Undergraduate)

Depending on your academic background and intended course of study, it may be possible to apply for advanced entry into year 2 or 3 of a University of Lincoln undergraduate course.

Postgraduate Taught (e.g. MA/MSc)

Entry requirements for postgraduate (master degree) programmes vary by course although typically range from a GPA of 2.5 to 3.0 (or above). 

Specific information on postgraduate entry requirements can be found on the individual programme page.

For comparison purposes, a GPA of 2.5 is the equivalent of a 2:2 honours degree. A GPA of 3.0 is the equivalent of a 2:1 honours degree.

 

Postgraduate Research (e.g. MPhil/PhD)

Successful completion of a Masters Degree from a recognised institution with a full research proposal.

English Language Requirements

Prospective students require IELTS 6.0 (with no less than 5.5 in each band score) or an equivalent qualification. Please note that some courses require a higher score.

Students who do not meet the above English language requirements may be eligible for entry onto a Pre Sessional English and Academic Study Skills (PEASS) course.

Tuition Fees

Scholarships

Each year, the University of Lincoln is delighted to award a number of scholarships and bursaries to suitably qualified students from around the world. Depending on your academic ability, intended programme of study and nationality, the level of scholarship / bursary can vary.

All students in Thailand are eligible to apply for the Lincoln 50% Global Scholarship, while postgraduate students can apply for the Thai Scholarship worth £5,000.
