Welcome to the School of Fine & Performing Arts

The School of Fine & Performing Arts is a centre of creativity with a purpose-built arts venue, studios and gallery. It is home to a vibrant artistic community where students and staff work alongside one another to explore new synergies between fine and performing arts.

The School’s academics have considerable experience as practitioners and researchers in the arts. They develop and maintain excellent links with national and international arts agencies, galleries and performance venues.

The School hosts a regular programme of guest lectures, visiting artists’ projects, and workshops which cover a range of contemporary art and performance practices that range from curatorial thinking, live art, digital media and installation, through to practical aspects of performance such as movement, voice, improvisation and stage combat.

Academics conduct high-quality research at an international level, combining traditional scholarship with active professional practice. Research is grouped into a number of clusters, which include Contemporary Playwriting; Theatre, Consciousness and Asian Performance; The Body in Performance; and Contemporary Art Practice and Theory.
