The University of Lincoln is a proud provider of Skills Bootcamps, which form a part of the UK Government’s Skills for Life initiative, facilitated in our region by the Greater Lincolnshire LEP in partnership with Lincolnshire County Council. These bootcamps have been made possible thanks to £2m in Government funding for across Greater Lincolnshire and Rutland in 2023 and a further £3m for courses in 2024. They are flexible courses of at least 60 hours of training, giving people the opportunity to gain new skills and fast-track to an interview with a local employer, or gain new skills in an existing job. They are free to all learners and can be online, face-to-face, or a mixture of both depending on the subject.
This Skills Bootcamp supports professionals in agriculture and environmental sectors, especially those specialising in sustainable land management. It offers two industry-recognised qualifications: the BASIS Certificate in Sustainable Land Management, ideal for environmental advisers, farmers, and land managers, and the BASIS Certificate in Soil and Water Management, focusing on protecting soil structure, preventing erosion, and reducing water pollution. Successful completion of these certificates form 2 of the required qualifications for achieving the BASIS Diploma in Agronomy.
