Students who undertake a work placement abroad are able to gain a life experience which can help them grow in independence and potentially improve their future employment prospects. They are able to explore the sights of their new home, make new friends, and experience different cultures.
Many of our degree courses include an optional placement year which can be completed overseas. These can be completed in Europe, with additional funding and recognition available via the Erasmus+ programme. Students enrolled on a course without this option are able to apply for summer placements. Erasmus+ offers grants for summer placements which are related to a student's chosen area of study, to help assist with living costs for unpaid placements. The University also works with selected partners who offer internships for up to 12 months following the completion of studies as part of the Erasmus+ Traineeship programme. A list of all current overseas internships is available on the Erasmus Intern website which is an online platform offered by Erasmus Student Network.
