21 Jun 2025
10.30am
Isaac Newton Building Atrium University of Lincoln Brayford Pool Lincoln LN6 7TS
Event Information
Our robotics competition team LCASTOR is hosting a friendly inter-university competition against Sheffield Hallam University for autonomous service robots, where students demonstrate how service and assistive robot technology they have developed can be used for future personal domestic applications. A set of challenges will be used to evaluate the robots’ abilities and performance in a realistic, non-standardised home environment setting. It is similar to the international RoboCup@home initiative, but this is the first time such a competition has been organised locally at a UK level.
Competition Challenges
Robots will be scored on their ability to perform home assistance tasks such as:
- Navigate a simulated home environment autonomously
- Put away groceries
- Take and deliver drink orders
- Follow a person while carrying their bags
Robotic Demonstrations
There will be separate demos involving small robotics for the attendees to interact with, including:
- Trilobot robot football
- Plant detection with Trilobots
- Robot dogs
- AI-powered fruit detection from drawings
