History at Lincoln is concerned with asking questions about the past in order to enhance our understanding of the world we live in today.
Programmes range from Bachelor’s degrees to PhDs, and cover British, European, African, Asian and American history from the medieval period to the late 20th Century, adopting a thematic approach to the subjects of identity, class, gender, state and society. There is an emphasis on the use of primary source materials including newspapers, films, cartoons, legal documents, novels, art and oral testimony.
We encourage all students to engage with the cutting-edge research carried out by our academics.
Andrew Ayre. BA (Hons) History graduate.
My decision to undertake postgraduate study at the University of Lincoln was inspired by my positive experience of the university and its History department at undergraduate level. The syllabus provides a broad choice of modules at all levels.
