Welcome

The College of Science offers a wide range of exciting research-informed and industry-relevant undergraduate programmes and postgraduate programmes in subjects including chemistry, computer science, engineering, food manufacturing, agri-food, geography, life sciences, mathematics, medicine, pharmacy, and physics.

Academic staff undertake world-leading or internationally excellent research, providing students with the opportunity to learn from some of the finest thinkers in their field. Across the College, staff are working at the forefront of new discoveries, from pioneering research to develop more effective radiotherapy treatment for thousands of cancer sufferers, to ground-breaking research into climate change and meteorology.

Teaching is delivered in purpose-built facilities, providing innovative spaces for study and research. Science students have access to specialist facilities across our campuses, including the Joseph Banks Laboratories and the £28 million Isaac Newton Building on our main Brayford Pool Campus.

Exciting new developments in the College have led to the creation of Lincolnshire’s first Medical School. Through an exciting collaboration with the University of Nottingham, students can now apply to study for the University of Nottingham's Medicine BMBS degree based in Lincoln, taught by academic staff from both universities.

Many of our schools have developed strong links with industry and external partners, ensuring that our programmes are industry-relevant, and giving students the ability to engage with employers. In chemistry, partnerships with regional and national chemical science companies and organisations aim to ensure that our curriculum is current and relevant, while our status as Global Principal Partner with Siemens gives Lincoln graduates enhanced opportunities for placements and mentoring.

The College has also developed alternative routes of entry for students who do not meet our standard entry requirements, opening up an exciting world of opportunities in a range of subjects. The Science Foundation Year aims to prepare students for degree-level study by equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to be successful in their chosen subject.
