Introduction

This programme of study will appeal to students with varied technical and professional backgrounds and encourages students to develop their powers of rigorous analysis, critical enquiry and independent judgement in regard to all areas of project management.

Project management is used in the co-ordination and administration of construction projects. The course provides students with the concepts, principles and practical knowledge needed to deal with the planning, co-ordination and control of projects from inception through to post completion, in order to meet the client’s aims and objectives and thus complete the project on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.

The Postgraduate Certificate in Construction Project Management requires successful completion of 60 points of study. This is followed by the Postgraduate Diploma in Construction Project Management, which is achieved following successful completion of a further 60 points of study. The final stage is the MSc in Construction Project Management, which requires the successful completion of a research project and the submission of a dissertation, which is similarly worth 60 points of study.

Postgraduate Certificate Stage

  • Professional Practice : Professional Studies
  • Professional Practice and Management
  • Project Inception/Feasibility Studies
  • Research Methods.

Postgraduate Diploma Stage

  • Professional Practice : Project Management Studies
  • Pre-contract/Pre-construction Studies
  • Post-contract/Construction Period and Post Completion Studies.

Masters Stage

  • Dissertation.
