Introduction
Opportunities exist in the Lincoln School of Art & Design to undertake supervised research for the degrees of Master of Philosophy (MPhil) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).
The active research base in the School ensures that our staff are actively involved in current debates and that students are up-to-date with new developments and issues. Research students usually have two internal supervisors with specialist knowledge of their subject areas, and they have regular meetings with them for advice, monitoring and other support. With the agreement of the Research Degrees Board, practical work may replace a part of the written thesis.
Students are introduced to the relevant research methods through taught units and they are encouraged to give presentations to postgraduate seminars, which are held regularly throughout the year. There are also opportunities to apply for funding to attend conferences and to publish in conference proceedings and in refereed journals.

- Contemporary Art Practice
