The School of Humanities and Heritage is pleased to be able to offer up to four bursaries, by competition, to University of Lincoln students and alumni who wish to undertake one of the MA degree programmes offered by the School (MA History, MA Medieval Studies, MA Conservation of Cultural Heritage, or MA English Literature).
Please note that the bursary is only available to current students or alumni of the University of Lincoln.
There is no fixed allocation per programme; bursaries will be awarded to candidates who submit the best applications.
2023/24 entry
The School bursaries will cover fees to cover one year of full-time study. In previous years, this has been up to £6480. Successful applicants wishing to take the MA over two years will receive half of the full-time fees each year to cover their study, which in previous years has been up to £3240 per year, with no increase in the second year to match any increase in fees. These figures are, however, subject to change and confirmation of the exact sum offered in each case will be communicated to the successful candidates.
Additionally, the School co-sponsors the Lincoln Civic Trust MA Bursary, which is a fixed award towards fees of £1000. The recipient of this award must be undertaking an MA dissertation project that will focus on an aspect of the history or heritage of the city of Lincoln and/or Lincolnshire. No separate application is required for this bursary. All applications that propose relevant dissertation topics will be considered for this bursary. The Lincoln Civic Trust bursary may be held concurrently with a School bursary, but the total bursary awarded will not exceed the amount of the fees to cover one year of full-time study.
Please note that the bursary is only available to current students or alumni of the University of Lincoln. Applicants are required to have applied for their MA programme of choice before submitting their application.
The deadline for applications is 4pm on Friday 5 May 2023, and a decision will be made before the end of May. Successful applicants will be expected to confirm that they accept both their place on a programme and the bursary shortly after that. In the event that a candidate does not accept the bursary, it may be offered to another applicant who has accepted a place. Please email Kathryn Tindall at ktindall@lincoln.ac.uk to request an application form.
