Introduction

The Certificate of Higher Education in History is a one year programme of study that provides students with the chance to develop a solid foundation of historical knowledge and introduces the historical skills required to undertake more advanced work later in the programme. It also provides students with the opportunity to develop a broader set of skills that may prove useful beyond university.

Modern History at Lincoln specialises in history from 1800 to the present day. This close focus offers the opportunity to better understand and navigate an increasingly socially, culturally, and politically complex world. This first year of the programme is designed to provide a solid foundation of modern historical knowledge and introduce the skills needed to become a university historian.

Modules

All Level 1 modules of the BA (Hons) Modern History programme must be successfully completed for the award of the Certificate of Higher Education. The programme has been designed to give students the opportunity, upon completion, to progress directly into Level 2 of the full degree programme.
